 Angel Island (WIP)
« Thread Started on Nov 29, 2007, 8:47pm »

Hey guys! I'm back, after what seemed like forever, lol. Basically, a lot's happened. I've composed new music, and my band is going into the recording studio for the first time on January 18th. :)

So, I decided to try something different. I'm currently working on an electronic/ambient/some other genre I can't recall piece called "Angel Island", an instrumental song I'm making for my girlfriend. ;)
Now, I'm trying to figure out how to get the drums to have basically the same sound as i have on them in this preview, but without a lot of the excess static. Some of the static is good, as it adds to the overall feel of it, but, it needs some work, lol.

So, here's what I have done so far. Any hints or suggestions or comments would be nice. :)

Sorry for such a late reply!

Love the pads in the intro! It reminds me a lot of the pads Kikuta uses in Secret of Mana.
There quite a bit of distortion, i'm not sure if you intended it to be like that or if there's too much gain (sounds like it was intentional though).

Overall, i love the dreaminess of the track and so far it's pretty darn sweet!

Keep it up!

Now it's my turn to apologize for an even later reply, lol. ^^'
Thanks for the feedback, guys! And yeah, the distortion was intentional, as I wanted a sound on the drums similar to what you get when you have a guitar on a heavy distortion setting. You know, where you get some sort of harmonic feedback type of thing going on? Yeah. :P The only thing is, I didn't want it to be THAT piercing. I'm still trying to fix it.

Also, in my absence, I'm been working on a few more songs, one of which I'll be recording in a recording studio next week. :3

Here's my latest piece I'm working on, called "Distance is No Longer Relevant". I'm going for a slight VGM feel with this one, as this one is heavily inspired by the ending credits to Mario Kart 64.

(Let me know if the link doesn't work.)

Also, you can check out the new stuff I have at http://www.myspace.com/chaokaze

Now, let's see if I can try to post more regularly from now on, lol. ^^'
